I just came across this amazing Navajo inspired Opening Ceremony x Pendleton winter collection on the Wah Mag site. I’ve always loved Native American textiles - something you never really see in the UK as there isn’t really any connection to that culture like there is in the US. These pieces are amazing, wonderfully cut jackets and beautiful vibrant fabrics. If only the jackets didn’t carry the price tag of $1150!!! I want one so bad!!!

WANT!

Beyonce’s hair from the new videophone music video, and maybe the sequinned knickers and gold bra too!!

What I am trying so hard not to watch at the moment but am finding disgustingly addictive and watchable at the same time.
Skins x Heroes = Misfits (e4)
It’s just… ridiculous. I feel so guilty for watching it…

“Nick Broomfield was originally commissioned to make a real-life Fame, recording on film the progress, from casting to Munich opening, of impressario Andre Heller’s all black stage musical, Body and Soul.
However, the shooting schedule turns into a living nightmare and comes to resemble Mel Brook’s The Producers. Broomfield has his budget cut by 80% and falls out with the writer brought in by the producer to add ‘plot’ to the documentary; one of the three choreographers threatens suicide, another is struck on the head by a camera and the third physically assualts the crew. And that’s before the cast revolts and the investors theaten to pull out…”

Grandpa’s Party - Monie Love

I love this video, not so sure about this mix of the song though.

Monie Love was born in Battersea in London, but went on to become a prominent member of the Native Tongues rap movement in the US.

I haven’t watched this documentary yet but I intend to. An interesting season of programmes on channel 4 exploring racial “taboos”.

Bonnie Greer totally smacked it on BBC’s Question Time last night. I don’t seriously believe that we live in a nation so ignorant and hateful that the British National Party could assume power.

Nick Griffin is a foul excuse for a member of the human race.

If you missed question time I have posted a recap of events above.

I recently picked up Grace Jones’ Nightclubbing on vinyl. It’s such a great album.

This video is brilliant and bizarre!

Eartha Kitt - Where is My Man.

Eartha Kitt played Catwoman in the original 1960s Batman TV Series.

She passed away on Christmas day last year.

One Pound Vinyl

I have started a new blog with my boyfriend, it’s called One Pound Vinyl and doesn’t exactly what it says on the label. Our favourite thing to do is scour markets and charity shops trying to out-do each other with our music finds. We have started a blog to catalogue what we find, where we find it and how much we paid for it.

Expect loads of 90s Hip Hop / New Jack Swing / Garage, 80s Chicago House / Hip House / Electro, 70s Disco and any other oddities we come across in our searches.

I will obviously be updating this blog as normal!
